seems to be severely influenced by The Selection, some of the scenes moved too fast or lacked important information that popped up later, but I enjoyed it.

Definitely a mix of The Selection with The Hunger Games, but still great none the less. I don’t like Ryce he’s only using her but at the same time I understand that the Prince can’t do anything. He’s not King yet.

Just one thing after another after another. It’s getting a little repetitive and just boring. It’s good enough to keep reading, but it seems like the same thing happened over and over again. I just wish Ryce and the Queen would leave or die.

Ever wanted Hunger Games x The Selection? Well, this is it! Following Zea from the Harvesting region, she participates in the Princess Trials for a hand in marriage to the crown prince. The twist, she is actually part of the rebellion trying to overthrow the monarchy.

All in all, it was a good book. But, there were plot holes that made it hard to understand, and the emotions the characters felt wonky. For being free on KU, you definitely cannot pass this up though.

Now, here's some stuff that I can't say without spoilers.
(view spoiler)[ WHY does Zea love Rhyce? I mean, they barely spent time together, and he's sending messages that he loves her??? He never showed any emotion towards her in the beginning. And, literally the day she joins the rebellion, they want her to go on this mission? Don't you think she should've had more training? WHY would Zea trust Berta? Berta from the start was rude and mean, so of course she wouldn't mind killing you at the end. Finally, at the end where they were showing Prunella's trial, did Zea finally realize she can't say the full truth about anything, because the monarchy wants a certain girl to win. There are a lot of things I don't understand.  (hide spoiler)]

This book gives off such Selection vibes but there is so much more action, bringing in the Hunger Games vibes, and I am here for it. Definitely reading book 2 in August!

This is exactly what it is marketed as.. a mash up of The Selection/Red Queen & The Hunger Games. I cannot tell you how many times I rolled my eyes. Zea is the worst spy in existence. She is just a piece of work and a flip flop. We get it Ryce is your sun, moon and stars jfc. LMFAO. It got two stars because I kept reading even though I was annoyed and found everything to be predictable to bone. I didn't /loathe/ it like I do my one star books.

tbh this whole book felt like some sort of fever dream, but I'm not entirely complaining?? I really did enjoy reading it, but it definitely needed to be edited lol (2.75 stars)

If I could I’d give this book a 3.8/5 stars. I actually really enjoyed this book, I just struggled in a few of the slower spots. I’m on to book two now and I love it!
