This was a short but fun introduction into what could possibly be a really interesting world and cast of characters, but like always, one partner withholding vital information of their background from the other is a horrible plot device - especially given the length of their relationship and the fact that his family had known about her. Not cool and I wish that there could have been some other precipitator to Marsh's desperate dread of his family visit. I loved how non-conforming Marsh's mom was and how laid back his dad seems to be... and their ongoing issues. I also loved how smart and capable Jada was, and that she didn't turn into a simpering idiot when confronted with the madness that was Marsh's extended family. Was it a tad on the melodramatic side, with some eye-rolling going on? Absolutely, but sometimes I quite like that if it's done right. Now I'm off to find out if there's more to come.
