Be aware, I abandoned this story quickly because it was making me nutty and frankly, I'm too old to put up with that. I liked the 1st in the series and thought I'd give the second a whirl. That was a mistake only because I didn't realize the second would be a retelling of the 1st but from the perspective of another character. If the author had incorporated that into the original story I'd have happily read it that way. In fact, I'm sure I would have enjoyed it and it would have given her the opportunity to flesh out that characters and have a fuller story. Instead, I feel like she broke it up into a 3 part "series" as a lazy way to get 3 books. I don't need to relive the 1st story again because it feels too much like every day in a pandemic.
