I found this book quite disturbing, until the last chapter. Even though I still wouldn't recommend it to anyone, the finale did an excellent job of curtailing the overwhelmingly awkward and mysterious atmosphere. It was only at that point that I related to the main character (or even really pieced together who was who and what was happening). Altogether, the book was shrouded in far too much ambiguity for the average reader.
