Ravenor ends up on Eustis Majoris looking for the source of “flects”, warp tainted pieces of glass from a Hive city destroyed by a warp storm. He’s eventually joined by agents of the Ministry of Subsector Trade and they assist him in his search. His investigation eventually leads him to Bonner’s Reach in Lucky Space to find a rogue trader named Thekla.
It’s later revealed that the agents who have been accompanying him have been planting the clues that led him to Lucky Space in order to dispose of him, as his investigation into the fleets is actually just a small part of a much larger operation of collecting warp tainted cogitators, suspecting the Ministry to be in on it.
Ravenors group survives the betrayal and kills their enemies. Given everything that he has learned, he now points his investigation towards the ministry to get to the bottom of their operation.
