I liked Molotch as a character, or rather the abilities that he had, and i feel like he was written inconsistently throughout the series. On the chapters focus on him, he was shown to practically be a master at observation, hypnosis, finding his enemies weak points and using them to his advantage; he was even shown to be able to practically cripple a subsector on a whim if he wanted to, yet in other chapters he was made to look bumbling and stupid through mistakes that he could’ve easily avoided. 

For example, in the final chapters of the book, he was unable to tell that Worna was keeping secrets from him. Shouldn’t he be able to read even the most surreptitious body language?

Also, I don’t see how he was fooled by Patience Kys when she infiltrated his group under the guise of Lynta. Being as smart as he is, he should’ve seen through the deception -  especially when he’s had over a year to observe her. Although Annette writes that she was able to prove her loyalty through heinous deeds, I don’t buy it. Honestly however, it would be pretty hard to take him down if he wasn’t nerfed in any way.
