           2.5,, i feel like i’ve missed a few chapters at the beginning of this book like why are we breaking in to a prison straight away? no hi, how are you? just straight away action. it left me very much confused for the rest of the book. also i wish ada and camille weren’t already established :( it takes away from a lot of the fun of the will they won’t they. similarly, from the way that their relationship was portrayed when they had their little fight i wasn’t actually desperate for them to get back together.

I had such high hopes for this book. The blurb sounded amazing and right up my alley. Unfortunately it fell flat for me.

I felt as if I never really got to know the characters, and who they are as people. I wanted to see so much more of them, how they play off each other, how they interact with each other, how they function as a group. We see and get none of that. Camile, to me, was particularly unlikable.

Secondly, this book read as if it were the second book in a series. I actually had to go back and check to make sure it wasn’t. The first chapter grabs you, but there is so much backstory to the characters and we never see that. As it is, those backstories are pretty vital to the story.

Story wise, the battalion seemed out of their depth and like children playing at games they shouldn’t have. This was never really proved otherwise.

Finally, I feel as if Olympe was never really explained. Why she was so important, who she was, how she came to be.

I was so excited to read this book, but unfortunately it didn’t do it for me. I can’t see myself continuing with the series.

I wasn't sure whether I'd enjoy this when I picked it up but honestly I had nothing to worry about. It gets a solid five 🌟 from me. 

Five things I loved about Dangerous Remedy:

- The constant action packed goodness that is the plot. There is always an undercurrent of drama just waiting in the wings. The characters go from quiet contemplation to all out subterfuge and intrigue in a second.

- The communication between the group was special and not overdone. Sometimes books with an ensemble cast end up with one sided characters but Dangerous Remedy's characters are so well rounded!

- The humour, I loved Al and his spirited sarcasm. He gets his own point! ♥ 

- Paris as a setting has to be one of my favourites, probably because its one of the easiest cities in the world to envision but I loved how detailed this book was on the smells, the type of stones used for the buildings and the vibe/energy of the city. Beautiful world building!

- Writing style. The book is made up of shorter chapters and we switch context quite a lot between the Camille and Ada on a regular basis. The switching helps the story seem fast paced and gives us the impression of things happening over a short period of time. 

I totally loved this book and might skip my next book in line to delve into the second one!

This book is good in its characters, and has some interesting ideas in its plot, but dear God do some RESEARCH. Germany and Belgium are mentioned as sovereign states, neither of which start existing until the next century. Bothered me so much.

This book was a great surprise. I started reading it without reading the summary first, so I knew NOTHING of the universe. If at first I thought it would be a historical fiction, I was super happy when I discovered bit a fantasy in it!
A great adventure during the French Revolution.

What a brilliant book! I loved that it started with immediate action that didn’t let up throughout the whole book. I felt hooked for all 428 pages. I loved the dry humour. I loved the found family. I loved the plot. I loved how refreshing this felt.

Sadly I really struggled with this book and I came so close to DNFing but pushed through and really felt like I shouldn't have bothered. I cared about none of the characters, some of them actually really annoyed me and the keeping secrets and 'love triangle' tropes were really over done. I really wish lack of communication to cause problems was over and done with. The plot seemed all over the place and got lost part way through. 

I had high hopes after really enjoying Court of Miracles earlier this year but this was not even close.
