Polansky's meat+drink is an experimental and very gritty vampire story. It's a refreshing shift from the sparkly and pretty vampires that have been central to the genre since Lestat. These are vampires that live in the bad side of town and are utterly lacking in humanity. It was a nice change of pace, but also not special in any other regards. A good story for Halloween.
