The Pirate's Deal

The Pirate's Deal

An urban fantasy Little Mermaid retelling perfect for fans of Crescent City and The Cruel Prince. Everything changes when the Ice Mer King says, “I want you to kill my daughter.” Erik I am the Pirate of Death. I have spent my life on the seas, maintaining my reputation as one of the most fearsome pirates to ever sail the waters in Aranthium. Then, the Ice Mer King makes a deal with me. Kill his daughter, and my life-debt is paid. Fail, and my life is forfeit. Sounds easy, right? If only the princess didn’t have such a talent for getting under my skin and consuming my thoughts. Helena My father trades my voice for legs I don't want. A whole month on a human-only crew doesn’t sound like my idea of fun. What I want is love, safety and family. Somehow, I find myself tangled up with a dangerous Pirate whose fate lies in my hands. Falling in love with him is exciting, effortless. But I don’t want to be owned by anyone. “Little Mermaid meets Captain Hook, except the voiceless heroine has a knife? Yes please.”

The Pirate’s Deal is such an epic pirate-mermaid adventure romance tale! I absolutely LOVED the dynamic between Helena (the Ice Mer Princess) and Erik (the Pirate of Death) so freaking much!! This is a Little Mermaid + Captain Hook retelling set in a totally unique, urban fantasy world and y’all—it’s MAGIC. Featuring the swoon-worthy “I’ve sworn to kill you but I’ve fallen for you” trope and endless hate-to-love banter, this standalone is perfect for fans of classic fairytale-inspired romantasy with spice! You definitely do not need to read book 2 before diving into this one; I found it extremely easy to navigate the fascinating world-building even not having read the first installment. Thank you so much to the author for sending me a copy of the book in exchange for an honest review! All thoughts and opinions expressed above are entirely my own.

Not a bad book, not necessarily what I was looking for in the moment. The story was very intriguing and well written.
