So this was an okay book for DS. I picked it up because it's written by my favorite author and it's about my favorite period in history, WWII. I've read  Echoes  by her and it was my all time favorite book ever, so I figured this one has to be good. 

And it was, don't get me wrong. Having to leave the country you love because you find out that (view spoiler)[ you are Jewish  (hide spoiler)] and therefore having to join the circus. I mean that, in itself, makes for an interesting story. You don't hear of people fleeing from war to join a circus. 

This story is about Nick trying to make it in the circus. He gets the gift of horses from his childhood friend so he can make it in the world. He falls in love with another circus performer. Eventually he is able to leave the circus life and start another life. 

But, it all just seemed really rushed as it started to wrap up. One chapter he was young and leaving the circus, the next he is 60 years old. It's like, where did the time go? There was also an epilogue that I'm not entirely sure was needed. You will have to read the book to find out what it is. 

So what I am saying with my rambling thoughts, is that it's a good book but it has some issues. It could have been really incredible if it just hadn't been so rushed towards the end. The epilogue was also not needed either.
