Reviews

Kady Dresco and Colton Brooks know each other since they were kids. After all, he is her brother’s best friend… And she has always had a crush on him. Of course he’s always treated her like a little kid until that night, three years ago, when he returned from the army and visited her brother and, for the first time, looked at her as a woman. The sexual tension between them escalated as the night progressed and culminated in two orgasms for her… The only ones she ever got from a man... Now they are both competing for a contract to supply security services to the army. It’s pretty obvious the sexual tension between them is as strong now as it was then, which means they both use banter as a way to deal with it as they always did. After presenting their proposals they discover they won’t be able to leave town because a storm has shut down the airport. As if that wasn’t enough, the only motel in the small town in Nevada where they are has only three rooms available (there’s a third man competing for the contract) and Kady’s has an interior fountain… Colton quickly offers her his room, but when they knock at the other man’s door and he opens it not even trying to disguise the fact that he was masturbating, Kady doesn’t let him sacrifice himself and they end up sharing the same room. Which, obviously, only has one bed... Neither of them is sure of surviving till morning. The truth is that there is nothing Colton wants more than to lean Kady to the wall and show her how he truly feels about her. And there lies the problem… her likes rough sex and is dominant but Kady is his best friend’s little sister and deserves better than that. She deserves love, marriage, the fairytale, and he can never give her that... But when he accidentally discovers her favorite romance in the middle of her things, he realizes he might have been mistaken about her. And that there may be hope for them after all... I really, really liked Kady and Colton and their relationship. I loved all the sexual tension, all the innuendo and all the ways they found to get under each other’s skin. And when they finally give in to it it’s explosive. I’m only sorry their story is so small, but I’m sure I’ll see them again. And I really want to read the other books in the series. COYER Scavenger Hunt: Read a book with no magical or futuristic elements.

It's not often that I blow off my entire reading and reviewing schedule to devour new books, but that's exactly what I did with the Wedding Dare series. After reading my review copy of Diane Alberts' Falling for the Groomsman, I gave in and read my first ever Tessa Bailey book, Baiting the Bridesmaid, because I was seeing such great buzz about it. That was all it took to hook me. I went back to the beginning and virtually inhaled this book and didn't stop until I'd finished the entire standalone series. I read them out of order, but it didn't matter. Each story can definitely stand on its own, but believe me when I say once you start reading about this group of friends, you'll want to know what happens for every pairing. Laura Kaye's Dare to Resist was a great kickoff novella. Now, since I read these out of order, I already knew what path Kady and Colton were headed down, but I still wanted to know how the ultimately got there. I enjoyed reading about the transition in their relationship from competition-slash-best friends little sister to something decidedly more. This novella was sweet and sexy and I really liked both Kady and Colton. The dynamic between them was powerful – as was the sexual tension and chemistry. Watching Colton begin to see Kady as more than just his best friend's little sister, as a woman with wants and needs was great. I loved how these two challenged each other in every setting. If you're looking for a great, sexy adult standalone series, I can't recommend this one highly enough. I've read several Brazen titles, but I've never read an entire series yet. I tend to stick with the ones written by authors whose work I'm familiar with. This series has made me see the error of my ways. I'm definitely missing out on something. I thoroughly enjoyed the way all the characters appeared in each novel, giving another perspective to the pairings and the individual characters. These stories all meshed really well together and that's one of the things I enjoyed most about each of the books individually and the series as a whole.
