Reviews

I liked the wrap-up although the very ending seemed slightly rushed / anticlimactic considering the buildup. I loved the FMC’s development throughout the series, when she finally embraces her identity it was kickass. Overall was an easy read and I’m interested to read more books by this author.

I am so sad this series is over! Des and Callie are such a complicated, lovely power couple that don’t always do things conventionally, but it’s always right for them.

Still really good and it was a nice ending. The actual resolution at the end felt a tad rushed

I needed MORE. idk of what but just more

A great end to a series ♥️🥰

So so good. Des and Callie are forever a favourite couple, and the story wraps up nicely in this final book. I loved this whole series. Great for ACOTAR fans that might be looking for a little more spice

One of the best series I've ever read

This book was definitely my favorite of the trilogy. I thought the author wrapped it up nicely and honestly, the romance and just Des in general saved it for me. I could read an entire book on just Callie and Des doing their thing. I abosolutely loved the chapters with them being so sweet with each other. I mean, I gave it 4/5, and that is even taking into account the cringe that Callie made me endure several times throughout the book. That's how much I loved reading about their relationship. Needless to say, Des is everything. He gave me huge Rhys vibes and I finally understand the hype around him. Don't get me wrong, he was very sweet in the first 2 books (though I had certain issues with how appropriate everything was), but he was everything I want in a book boyfriend this time around. I found myself not really caring too much about the main plot until like the last hundred pages, maybe? Possibly less. Again, the entire book could have just been about Callie and Des being cute with each other and I would have been happy as a clam. I don't know much else about other books this author has written, but I may check them out! Overall, I'm not mad that I read this trilogy. It was an easy read and I'm actually glad I stuck it out to the end because the third book was *chefs kiss*

This was a really, really fun series to read. That could be also because I read it with this lovely over here, and we had a blast. So admittedly, if you are reading this without the blessing that is a reading buddy who shares your love for sarcasm, kickass female characters and sexy fae males, then I can’t promise the same level of entertainment. But I’ll recommend this series to you anyway 😁 First of all, I should mention that this isn’t the first of Laura Thalassa’s work that I read, but it’s the first I feel fairly safe recommending. Compared to her Unheartly series, this is a vast improvement: the dialogue is sharper; the characters far better shaped, more realistic and three-dimensional, with great, relatable back stories; the plot better planned and far more original. This is a story with romance, mystery, a healthy dollop of smut and enough sarcasm and humor that you’ll likely be laughing out loud or at least snorting even while your hands anxiously grip your book in the middle of a suspenseful scene. The MC has a very nice character arc, and I loved seeing her come into her own — I can’t say more than that without spoilers, sorry! But I will tell you this: if you liked ACOTAR but would prefer a more relatable MC, look no further. And if you found the concept of ACOTAR interesting but the execution a little on the cheesy side and found yourself rolling your eyes... you might like this better. The world building isn’t as complex, but it’s convincing and more than adequate I think. And the secondary characters are well-rounded characters in their own right, with specific roles in the story and not just standing backup in case the MCs need something. In fact, the MCs best friend, Temper, is probably my absolute favorite character in this whole series — which also brings me to another plus: the representation of female friendship in this book is awesome. More of that, please!! Now, for the negatives: this being the last book, I have to judge the conclusion. And for me it wasn’t quite satisfying. It was a little too tidy and a bit too hurried for my taste, with all the threads sort of being resolved almost at once. Which is why I’m rating this specific book 3 1/2 STARS, though it’s really a bit more then that, but not a full 4 stars for me. But again, I’m going to recommend this to you anyway, because it’s really the most fun I’ve had in a while!

** spoiler alert ** Loved it. Ended with some twists but still HEA. Perfect ending to their story.

1⭐️ - Jesus Christ the dialogue is aweful. How did I look past it in other books - they are so fucking dumb. No one suspected the crazy resurrection god was from the death kingdom??? - I’m a big fan of pointless threats of sexual violence. Clearly.

Personally this review is more of a reminder to come back to this book. I had so much personal stuff going on halfway through the book that when I came back to it, I was just done. So this is a reminder that I did read it and hopefully will re-read it again since I loved the first book.

In the conclusion to the Bargainer Trilogy, Callie and Des must finally come face to face with the Thief of Souls that has been plaguing them and the Otherworld. In order to save the Otherworld, however, they will need to rely on each other and their allies in unexpected ways. Pros: • Worldbuilding- The continuation of the building of the Otherworld was a huge plus for me in this book • Callie- As far as character arcs go, I did enjoy the increase in confidence and power that Callie gained from this book as it is a big difference from the first Cons: • Plot- So I didn’t dislike the plot points, I just thought that they were set up in a strange sort of order. A lot of what happens just feels like Callie and Des popping around to different places just to build the world rather than to actually accomplish something • Slump- This book kind of put me in a slump as it took me a really long time to read it. By the end I was very into it and read the last 150 pages in one sitting, btu the first parts dragged considerably. Overall, I’m giving Dark Harmony 3.5/5 stars. I’ve been trying to get through this trilogy for quite a while and the end did happily surprise me. I’m not sure how soon I would pick these up to reread them, however.

“People like us are not victims, he’d once told me. We’re someone’s nightmare.” #1: Rhapsodic ★★★★☆ #2: A Strange Hymn ★★★☆☆ #3: Dark Harmony ★★★☆☆ I have too many issues with this book. It took me ages to finish because, while it was good, I'm quite disappointed with it, to be honest. I loved the first two books, especially the first one, and I'm afraid to say this one just didn't feel right. The storyline seemed to drag on and on while the world burned and Des and Callie did...nothing (?) I'm so happy they got the happy ending they deserve, but still.

these books messed me up

best book i’ve ever read.

4.5. THE ROMANCE IS TOP TIER IN THIS SERIES. MY FRIENDS WOULD LOVE THIS. I GOT A LIL BORED WITH THE PLOT BC IT EXAGGERATES BIT LONGER. BUT FUCK IT HAS IMMORTAL COCKY FAE AS A LEAD, POWERFUL FUNNY FEMALE PROTAGONIST, GOOD SEX SCENES W HEARTFELT LOVE CONFESSIONS AND A MURDER MYSTERY? I CANT COMPLAIN.

4.5 stars

Calypso Lillis is a siren with a very big problem, one that stretches up her arm and far into her past. For the last seven years she’s been collecting a bracelet of black beads up her wrist, magical IOUs for favours she’s received. Only death or repayment will fulfil their obligations. Only then will the beads disappear. Everyone knows that if you need a favour, you go to the Bargainer to make it happen. He’s a man who can get you anything you want... at a price. And everyone knows that sooner or later he always collects. (Taken from Book One, Rhapsodic) --- “People like us are not victims. We’re someone’s nightmare.” We are first introduced to both our main characters through a bargain that is made when Callie is quite young and from there we watch them both grow. Callie to me was quite annoying at times, but she made up for it throughout. I found that although she was strong and independent she was also deeply troubled and broken, and that's what made her character stronger. She didn't just suddenly get over her past, she lived through it, survived each day, and that's what I loved. She didn't want to be a victim to anyone, she just wanted to learn how to manage and learn, and throughout the story she definitely did. Desmond, who from the beginning was a cocky shit was a favourite character of mine. He was possessive, strong and powerful, which he would flaunt at all times, but he was also caring and thoughtful and that's what made him perfect. I honestly loved his character a lot and had a slight heartbreaking moment during the final book, honestly, I screamed, but I got over it. “And the mountains may rise and fall, and the sun might wither away, and the sea may claim the land and swallow the sky. But you will always be mine. And the stars might fall from the heavens, and night might cloak the earth, but until darkness dies, I will always be yours.” The creation of the world I loved!! I loved the modern aspect mixed with the older times, it was split worlds and it felt so magical that I was completely drawn to it. Everything was described perfectly and I could envision it all in my mind, which I love about a book. I felt like I could practically picture every detail, which just added to the magic of the book. I found throughout that I was annoyed with the overuse of certain words such as 'Mate' 'Harmonic' and 'Magic', but I guess I got over them enough to finish the trilogy, and I'm glad that I did! Overall I loved this trilogy and would recommend it to those that loved fantasy/adult books. 4 Stars.

:(

It came out as 4 stars because I didn't like how it ended. I still thoroughly enjoyed the series as a whole. Probably my favorite series of the year.
Highlights

“Your throne is cute," the Bargainer says, continuing forward. "I gave my servant's daughter one just like that-only I believe it was a little bigger. Damn. Fairies don't fuck around with their insults.

"I still can't believe you two fuckers did body shots without me," Temper grumbles. "What's a body shot?" Malaki looks genuinely confused. "Oh, you sweet thing," Temper pats his cheek. "Il show you later."
He’s so innocent man;-;

Malaki Comes over then, pulling me in for a hug. "Desmond is a blessed man to be mated to a woman like you. Thank you for making him happy”
I love malaki sm man. Temper had him over

"Cuff her with iron, and you'll lose your balls," Des says, pulling me back into the present. One of the soldiers hesitates, then squints at Des, a mean look in his eye. “Is that a threat?" "Naw, he's just reciting poetry to you," I say.

THE NEXT MORNING, when I wake, I open my eyes and see a shock of white blond hair. Des's head rests just above my breasts, his features softened by sleep.
This man is such a baby

Des kicks his booted feet up on the table, leaning back to sip his espresso. The years might pass, but watching the big bad Bargainer drink coffee from a tiny cup will never get old.
Iykyk

Tell me a secret, I whisper. He traces the curve of my cheek. "Secrets are meant for one soul to keep."

The wings at his back are unfurled, his white feathers tinged with gold. He looks the angel to Des's devil.
As much as I love des I just know he’s fine af

“And mountains may rise and fall, and the sun might wither away, and the sea claim the land and swallow the sky. But you will always be mine. And the stars might fall from the heavens, and night might cloak the earth, but until darkness dies, I will always be yours.”
brb throwing myself into a sad puddle from all this love.

“From flame to ashes, dawn to dusk, for the rest of our lives, be mine always, Desmond Flynn.” He kisses my lips. “Until darkness dies.”
someone love me

“I love you, Callie, down to every last feather and scale. I love your darkness, I love your mind, I love your humor and your most coveted dreams. And I love how you love me—wholly, deeply, passionately. “You’re not normal; you’ll never be normal. I’m so sorry to tell you that. You are so blindingly extraordinary that it physically hurts me sometimes, and I’ll never stop pushing you to believe this.”

I will be there through it all, and I will tease you and infuriate you, and lavish you with whatever it is your heart desires because the only thing mine desires is you.”

I glance over at Des, who’s beginning to pose frozen fairies like they’re Christmas reindeer, each position a little more compromising than the last.

I feel sixteen all over again. Sixteen and broken and desperate for the Bargainer to fix me, even though that was never his job to begin with. But he did fix me; he picked up each broken piece of me and put me back together and he loved my cracks in a way that only he could.
you don't need a man to fix you. even if he is good looking.

“You’ve done it, cherub,” Des says, surveying the prone fairies. “You’ve become someone to fear.”
i wish that i was someone to fear

“So, that’s how it feels to be glamoured by a siren,” he says, the corner of his mouth curving up just the slightest, “like I’ve been caught by my balls.” He comes in close, his smirk growing. “The whole thing was horribly invasive. I rather enjoyed it.”
of course you would

I can fucking glamour fairies. Hold onto your tits, world. Callie. Is. Back.
lololol
