           I wanted to like this book, but for me it was kind of a flop. The plot felt incredibly generic, especially the twist of the deranged, lesbian ex-lover. The way in which the story is told seems to shift randomly at times as well. It’s first person perspective, but occasionally the main character talks directly to us, breaking the ‘fourth wall’, in a way that just doesn’t seem to fit in with the overall narrative style. The only saving grace of this novel was the dog and even that was ruined for me. 1.5 stars rounded up to 2.
