The Red Lily
Melody's responsibility for the farm she inherited from her father, and her love for the small creature she found one cold winter morning made up her life until Mark made a disastrous marriage, and she became involved with a new-comer from an Eastern city, and from a family of wealth and prestige. A foreign way of life for Melody. She and Mark grew up on neighboring farms, and attended the same two room school. Because of an incident in the first grade they became good friends, helping each other during the bad times and the good. Over the years they were so busy being friends they failed to realize they were actually in love, until it was nearly too late.
