I thoroughly enjoyed the world created by the author. Both sisters are build in an extremely human way and I like the fact that Amayo takes her time in developing their characters.
The only thing I didn't really get was how rushed the end was. I wouldn't have minded if they just managed to escape in the last second, leaving the big battle for the next book. The main villain is built up to be the strongest being on the planet and when we're finally introduced to him up close, he's gone in less than a chapter.
In any case, I loved the book and I can't wait to read the next one.

My biggest problem with this book isn't a problem with the narrative so much as with the publisher's description. It gives away far too much information that isn't revealed in the narrative until well over half-way through the book. I was expecting a lot more focus on Naala and Sinai as goddesses than there actually was (view spoiler)[(in fact, the narrative doesn't even call them that - just says they're mmo or spirits rather than vanished goddesses reborn) (hide spoiler)] which meant I felt like I was anticipating something that never actually happened. Looking at the story and ignoring the summary, it was great - I loved the characters, the world was super interesting and I can't wait to see more from this series. But I definitely have to step back from how the book was marketed to have that opinion.

Although Naala and Sinai are bonded through blood they have never met.

Naala is used to her quiet village and being adventurous. Sinai is used to living in the palace. Both are not as equiped for the adventure that they are going to go on to eventually find each other in a very unlikely turn of events.

While I love Reni's writing style I feel that the book was disjointed. While reading to this book I couldn't help but feel as if half of the book was cut out. The chapters didn't flow together as well as I wish they would have. I also feel as if there were seemingly random chapters that explain the world when the characters would figure it out in later chapters. 

I did like the characters, but I do feel like the character development was nonexistant. They would jump from one extream to the next without any explanation.
