I can see why kids love this. DogMan was hilarious and reminded me a lot of Captain Underpants, which I loved as a kid. There are definitely a fair amount of poop jokes, so if you're not into that or sharing that with your kids, avoid Dav Pilkey all together.

I had to read this to see what the hype was about and to see if I can get ideas for a possible Dog Man party at work this summer. Meh. It wasn't bad, but it wasn't for me. Even when I was younger it wasn't my humor, but there were plenty of people in my classes in school I could think of who would have loved it. I can for sure see the appeal of it for a large chunk of kids who this book targets. I may read the second one to see about how well it would work as a party, but I also may not. I may just solely turn to the internet to see what I can find. While it was a quick read, I also don't really want to pick up the next book.
