You can be a warrior, explorer, priest, wizard, thief or bard. The books in the series are inter-connected, allowing you to travel all across the Fabled Lands.

This is more of a game than a book. I've played through a couple times and always end up dying. The world-building is great, and it's a lot of fun just wandering around the world fighting battles and finding quests. The setting may be a bit generic for some people, but if you just want a solid playthrough of fun in a fantasy setting, this may be the ultimate game. 

The writer(s) have also made it available online as a downloadable program, which is how I played it. The program works great and the best part is that it's free! There's no reason to not give this a download.
