odd (as Kirkus put it - "Waiting for Godot" with training wheels), and comparisons with "Life of Pi" (in the non-horrific senses) can't be suppressed. But funny - and the friendship (?) or relationship generates so many thoughts and questions. Such a sparse setting also makes it seem theatrical. Could be a push for Grade 4, but perhaps if the teacher read it, kids would get into its absurdity.
