Curator David Elliott selects works from the new acquisitions of five British museums, investigating the international art that is being acquired and integrated into British collections over the last five years.Art from Elsewhere functions as an overview of a singular collection of contemporary art from around the globe which encompasses contemporary issues from the realities of global change to the question of failed utopias, exploitation and crisis in urban environments, as well as exploring new ideas of exchange and value for the common good.Featuring works from some of the most well-known contemporary artists working internationally today, Art from Elsewhere is a collection of works on paper, video, sculpture, painting and photography that offer intriguing views and insights of the world beyond our familiar surroundings.Published to accompany the Hayward Touring exhibition in the UK at GOMA, Glasgow, 24 October - 1 February 2014- 15, Birmingham Museum & Art Gallery, 14 February - 31 May 2015, MIMA, Middlesbrough, 19 June - 27 September 2015, Towner Art Gallery, Eastbourne, 23 January - 3 April 2016.
