An action-packed novel with gritty confrontations and believable plot twists. The protagonist is a former cop now an ex-con but still on the side of what’s right. He has a strong moral center and a righteous (if illegal) personal mission that keeps us rooting for him. And he’s good to children, his elderly father, and the women in his life. 

The story was a bit confusing for a while (which doesn’t bother me) and I lost the thread of the diplomat’s son (and reward for his return) for most of the book. Good thing that was not essential for enjoying it. One of the characters experienced a 180 w/r/t Bruno that seemed pretty quick, but in a life-or-death situation it may be part instinct. I’ll trust the author (an experienced cop) on this one. I’m eager to see what happens next for Bruno and will definitely read more books in the series.
