Beautiful, heart warm story, and a wonderful narrator.

Cat Lady tells the story of Mia, whose life starts to spiral out of control, and her only moments of happiness are found with her beloved cat, Pidgeon.

This book promises to be "laugh out loud" funny. However, I found the humour to feel forced and quite mocking towards "cat lady's" of the world. A lot of messed up things happen in this book, more so than I care to remember and never want to reread, and it didn't sit right to myself finding any humour in them. 

The constant references to Mia being a crazy cat lady and the intense relationship Mia has with her cat was extremely odd, and it takes over 50% of the book before you start to get a bearing on Mia's backstory and why she is the way she is. This did help me understand and warm to Mia's character more. However, it was far too late in the book, in my opinion.

I've read other books by this author and instantly found myself drawn to her humour and her desire to write unapologetically awkward female characters, but unfortunately this time, it wasn't for me.
