I have read "Brother's Keeper" by Dawn Vogel now. The novelette is a classical, not-so-dark superhero story with a broad ensemble. You can read the novelette as a stand-alone story, but you will be confronted with many names, skills and alter-ego names very fast. I had to take notes. I assume that the protagonists are known from the previous Cobalt City stories and, for new first-time readers, every protagonist is explained shortly in this very novelette. I know this concept from German dime novels. The story was exciting and compelling. The novelette was also about the disadvantages of the super-heroes profession. A further element was relationships, such as mentor-pupil relationships, typical relationships between people who are in a crush, and comradeships. I can recommend this novelette.
