The 100 - Day 21

The 100 is entertaining enough, and I do like the different perspective it puts on the show. Although the show is (obviously) based on the books, the plots and characters and storyline are so different they don't really feel the same. 

One of the main reasons I didn't enjoy this is much is that some of the characterisation annoys me. I think I've been spoiled by the show, but I just prefer Clarke and Bellamy and all the others how they are in the show. Clarke, especially, isn't nearly as tough and interesting in the book. In the book she is just alot more dependant and damsel-ised which is kind of annoying. I'm so used to Clarke being so brave and strong and tough and willing to make really hard decisions. I like that she's the leader in the tv show, but in the books she's pushed to the side in favour of Bellamy and Wells. But I do love her story with her parents experiments and her role in Lilly's death. I like that her past is really quite dark. 

I miss show characters like Finn, Raven and Jaspar who aren't in the book. 

On the other hand I love Glass and her story so much. The exodus from the ship was very Titanic-esque and I loved the scenes of horror and panic as everyone tries to get on a drop ship. The woman falling into space and dying also kind of hit home in the fact everyone who doesn't bored will die an awful death. 

I also love the continuing role of Wells in this story. The introduction of Earthborns like Sasha was interesting. But I'm most intrigued by Kendall - I am looking forward to seeing her story in book 3

My main issue with this book is how the characters emotions go from 0 to 100 so quickly. Bellamy, for example, being (rightly) mad at Clarke for killing his best friend/ex-girlfriend only for him to forgive her 1 page later and sleep with her? Like no grieving and loss and anger doesn't work like that. That was really annoying to me and happened throughout the book. 

One aspect of the book I adore though is the hierarchal society on the station, with Phoenicians being on the top and Arcadian's and Waldenite's below them. The book really delves into how this society treats the 'lower levels' and the entitlement that comes with being 'upper-class'. The way the Phoenicians leave the Waldenite's and Arcadian's to die was appalling, but I love that aspect of the book. It also really helps drive characters like Bellamy and Graham resentment toward Clarke and Well's, who come from the upper-class. 

At the end of the day, these books are entertaining and quick easy reads so I'll go on!!

Vor der Rezi: Die 100 – Tag 21 von Kass Morgan ist der zweite Teil der Die 100-Trilogie basierend auf der gleichnamigen Serie The 100. Das Buch unterscheidet sich erheblich von der Serie. Solltet ihr also Band 1 der Trilogie noch nicht gelesen haben, findet ihr hier Spoiler.
Meine Meinung: Die Serie The 100 begeistert mich schon seit Sendestart und auch vom ersten Teil der Trilogie war ich sehr begeistert. So war für mich klar, dass ich die Fortsetzung der Reihe recht bald lesen muss und das habe ich auch direkt nach dem Erscheinen getan. Während ich den ersten Teil immer sehr stark mit der Serie verglichen habe, Unterschiede und Gemeinsamkeiten erkannt habe und diese bewertet habe, wollte ich dies beim zweiten Teil der Trilogie nicht mehr tun sondern diese vielmehr als ein eigenständiges Konstrukt betrachten. Denn wie all die wissen, die den Auftakt der Trilogie schon gelesen haben und die Serie ebenfalls verfolgen: die Unterschiede sind gigantisch. 
Während die Handlung von Die 100 noch still und leise vor sich hinplätschert, geht es in Tag 21 gleich richtig los. Auf brutale Gewaltszenen wird verzichtet aber dennoch wird eine Menge Spannung gekonnt in der Story verpackt. Die kommt vor allen Dingen auch wieder durch die Perspektivenwechsel zwischen Clarke, Bellamy, Glass und Wells zustande. Auch hier hat sich die Sicht von Glass, die sich noch immer auf dem Schiff befindet, bei mir mal wieder durchgesetzt. Ich find es unglaublich spannend, was auf dem Schiff in der Zeit der Sauerstoffknappheit passiert und Glass hat dafür einen sehr guten und auch sehr interessanten Blickwinkel. 
Die Rückblenden in die Vergangenheit werden weniger, dafür häufen sich jedoch die Rätsel und Probleme in der Gegenwart. Während Glass das Ziel hat, das Raumschiff zu verlassen und auf die Erde zu gelangen, um nicht sterben zu müssen, kämpfen die 100 gleich mit mehreren anderen Problemen. Bellamy ist verzweifelt auf der Suche nach Octavia und muss sich mit einem Problem bezüglich der Liebe stellen. Dieses Problem haben Wells und Clarke auch aber während Wells sich mit der Einheit der 100 und deren Fügung unter einem Anführer herumschlagen muss, versucht Clarke eine Krankheitswelle zu bekämpfen und gleichzeitig mit den plötzlich auftauchenden Erdgeborenen zu verhandeln. 
In de Handlung tauchen viele Rätsel und Probleme auf, die in der Serie völlig unbekannt sind und die und ein paar tolle Wendungen haben mich dazu gebracht, Serie und Buch einfach nicht mehr zu vergleichen und wenn ich ehrlich bin, gefällt mir das Buch sogar momentan ein bisschen besser. Die Probleme und Entdeckungen gehen tiefer und in eine völlig andere Richtung und ich finde die Idee, die Kass Morgan da hatte einfach nur genial. Ich möchte gar nicht mehr abwarten, bis Die 100 – Heimkehr im Mai 2016 erscheint sondern am liebsten jetzt schon das Ende lesen. Da muss ich mich aber noch einige Zeit gedulden. 
Bewertung: Buch und Serie sind nicht mehr zu vergleichen! Das Buch toppt für mich die Serie durch seine Protagonisten, die enorme und doch gewaltfreie Spannung und die unzähligen neuen Rätsel und Wendungen. Kass Morgan hat mit Tag 21 eine erfolgreiche und absolut perfekte Reihenfortsetzung geschaffen, die von mir 5 von 5 Füchschen verdient.

I loved this book and now my brain is reeling. This isn't even a review I just had to say what my feeling were, be warned if you're reading this book. It's so good and left me in shock.

           Not much of a fan of the different POV’s it’s hard to get involved in the narrative when you are jumping from characters views to another character’s. The storyline is getting better compared to the previous one, even tho it goes slow. I’m still NOT a fan of Glass, but actually shed tears for her mother. But Wells is really growing on me. I’m still shipping Clarke and Bellamy #Bellarke real hard. 
The book developed not how I wanted but in an expected way. But still is good and the story is very creative. So I’m still going to continue reading the saga.

I think I enjoyed this book more than the first, simply because there were some twists and shockers. I certainly didn't expect it. I am also ashamed to admit I was comparing it, again, to the tv show. I kept wondering where the reapers were, the acid fog? Is there even someone named Monty or Jasper? I'm assuming there's no Finn either? Anyways..

Book Two of The Hundred, Day 21!

I will add that the major thing I love about this, is Bellarke. I actually started this series simply because the show is one of my favorites and Clarke and Bellamy have had no other actions other than a hug. So yes, I was thrilled that Bellamy carried Clarke all the way back to camp after being stung, and waited by her side the whole time. I definitely hated his tantrum he threw when he found out Clarke's secret. He didn't even think of what It meant to Clarke for telling him. How much it haunted her every time she closed her eyes.

The Earthbounds were kind of surprising in this book. They weren't trying to kill the hundred, at least one faction of them. Apparently, the colony had shipped a couple people down to earth to test the radiation, and they met the earthbounds, and didn't go well. That lead for a small fraction of the earthbound's to go their own way, finding a way to get revenge when the hundred's ship landing.

I guess i'm okay with the whole Wells and Sasha thing, 
  at least he has stopped obsessing over Clarke, it was beginning to get crazy in book one, like oh my god take a hint!!
 She seems like a trustworthy person, even after being captured and almost killed like two times by the newcomers. They're not exactly savages as the show makes them out to be, they were the ones who had been living in Mount Weather for the 250 years, and only the past 50 years had they been living among the grounds of earth.

I still don't enjoy Glass's POVs, But it is interesting to see what's going on up on the ship, and how crazy it gets when there's no order, I kind of hate Camille though, she seems like a total bitch even though I understand she cared about Carter, or maybe she wanted just really wanted Luke!?

That shocking ending though. Bellamy and Wells' new... bond? I did NOT see that one coming. Nice twist Kass Morgan!

With all that being said, I'm excited to read The Homecoming, hopefully Clarke has her reunion, and with lots of more Bellarke moments, they give me the feels! Bob Morley, the guy who plays Bellamy on the show, is so attractive ugh! THANK YOU FOR EXISTING!

I loved this continuation of the first book. It didn't do a lot of reinforming of what was going on, but I didn't think it was necessary (and that may just because I read the books back-to-back, because that is how great of an author I think Kass Morgan is... she hooked me into this series). As I was reading, my opinion of Wells's character didn't really evolve much, I still would have rather not read is part. I actually would have loved to read Sasha's viewpoint or even Octavia's viewpoint to see something other than what you already got from both Bellamy's and Clarke's viewpoints.

This series is amazing and definitely worth checking out. One plus about this book is that it is even more fantastic than the first book.

I'm hoping with fingers crossed that Kass Morgan has more books in this series coming out, because she cannot leave me hanging like she did.

This book is better than the first one for sure. I think I like this series solely based on the fact that I love the TV show. Having said that, in my opinion the show is better than the book and that is often a rare occurrence. 

Honestly, every relationship in this just seems to be moving too fast. I like the fact that the book is fast paced but the main plot line and sub-plot relationships aren't the same. 

I do enjoy Kass Morgan's writing style. I just wish things weren't rushed as much.

The ending was way to cheesy for me, but all in all an enjoyable read. The books are a lot different than the show, but sometimes you just need that almost trashy YA feel, am I right.

I liked this one better than the first but it still gets a 3/5 stars because that's just where these sit in my mind. This was definitely an improvement which I think is mainly due to the movement away from establishing the character's pasts and more of a focus on the development of the world and furthering the plot. All the flashbacks seemed more necessary whereas in the first book many of them felt irrelevant to progressing the story.

unlike most of the opinions on here, I actually like that the book and TV show (which- newsflash- came AFTER the book, so quite boo-hooing over the fact that things are different in the book, when really it was the TV show that changed it) because it gives an alternate take on everything. I love Clarke and Bellamy together (not a fan of Finn in the show, but I've only seen 4 episodes so far)
if you like the show more than the book, that's fine, but good lord don't sit here and complain about it. the book was written first, and the author definitely isn't going to change her book because people like the changed Television version better. Finn was a made up character that didn't even exist to begin with, and Wells dies in the first few episodes. At least in the book he's there for more than a few chapters. Don't like it, don't read it. It's that simple.

overall I enjoyed it, though I do feel it's kind of a stretch that Clarke's parents are miraculously alive living on earth. and I will admit, it's kind of cheesy and cliché that (view spoiler)[ Bellamy and Wells are half brothers  (hide spoiler)]
I did find myself frustrated when Clarke temporarily forgave Wells, but it didn't last long, so I got over it pretty quickly.

I personally like having Glass's story because it gives you a more personal insight to what is going on back up in the Colony while the others are on Earth. I thought her space walk to get back into phoenix was pretty neat, though it did have a huge Titanic feel to it.

I look forward to the next book

This book wasn't bad, but I wouldn't call it good either. Maybe I'm biased but the TV show is much better. I found a lot of the things that happened to be silly and unnecessary, and also found the plot to be too slow. The characters are still pretty flat, but not as bad as in the first book.

           This one is way better than the first in the series, and gave a lot more of a suspenseful feel. I especially enjoyed Glass's story. The drop ship narrative had a Titanic vibe to it. Wells was less insufferable. But I did want action between the Earth-borns and the 100.

This is a well-developed fast paced book. We get to explore more about the characters and their situations and a few new characters too. This follow up delves more into Earth and the Earthborn. I think this was a better book that the first. The storyline is still unfinished so I expect more from this series. 

This is all about 21st day of the exposure to Earth and the unknown radiation levels. The treatments for radiation are worthless at the Day 21 mark where the sickness worsens. They realize that they are not the only ones on Earth. We learn of links to those on Earth. The characters and their stories develop more as well. Clark and Bellamy were very likeable in this book. I liked Glass more in this book as well, she was not my favorite character in the first book. 

This book didn’t really do anything surprising but I wasn’t looking for that. I was looking for an engrossing read and I found one that covers a wide range of emotions and situations. I gave this book 4 stars.

The sequel to The 100 is nearly here (out September 16th!) and I’ve had the privilege of reading it already, an eGalley provided by NetGalley. Thanks, guys! And guess what? It is MUCH better than the first of the series. I’ll tell you guys one thing: I think this book series is shaping up to be much better than the start let on — and I, for one, can’t wait!

I know you can’t, either.

That being said: Day 21 picks up right where we had left off in the previous installment and continues rotation in the different point of views. This time around, the transition seems much smoother as we move through the suspense within each plot and we’re introduced to a few new characters, or at least shown the names of some of the others who came down to earth.

Yes, Kass Morgan has seemed to get right into the groove — truly — in the latest chapter of this story of survival.
