How do we strip ourselves of prejudices, habits, influences? The answer, my dear lads, is that we must constant endeavor to find a new point of view."(..)we must constantly force ourselves to look at thing differently. (..)"If you' re sure about something , force yourself to think about it another way, even if you know it’s wrong or silly. When you read, don't consider only what the author thinks, but take time to consider what you think.

The movie has always been my favorite, but the book, this book, definitely delivered something beyond what the screen could present. I miss Neil. ;( He would have lived a life.

I'm probably biased since this has always been one of my favourite movies, but now that I've finally come around to reading the book I can confidently say that this is a phenomenal story.

We don’t read and write poetry because it’s cute. We read and write poetry because we are members of the human race. And the human race is filled with passion. And medicine, law, business, engineering—these are noble pursuits and necessary to sustain life. But poetry, beauty, romance, love—these are what we stay alive for.

I feel like the book shows so many perspectives of feeling, feeling like you can archive everything, feeling like seeing the beauty in words and life but also feeling like you were robbed your passion and your beauty. Being put in a box, not allowed to see and feel all the beauty and a single teacher, a single sentence making you grow wings „carpe diem“. Feeling everything for a certain passion, and not being able to life without it. I feel like it shows so many raw and real feeling. They all seem so strong because it seems like the boys feel them for the first time.

granted it’s been a while since i’ve watched the movie, (and going into this i didn’t realise this was written after the movie), but i really wish this had stood out on its own in some way. there were obviously some really good parts, and probably the most memorable scenes of the movie, but the general atmosphere and charm was sort of missing. still, a nice read & it did make me want to rewatch the movie

Definitely forever a favourite, filled my heart with joy. Devoured it in a couple hours.

An  inspiring story to follow your dreams and to have a mind of your own. For me it lacks something, i don’t know but I really wanted the characters to fight back a little bit more, or at least a snap of Neil to his father, something that made me think -omg they really are doing everything in their power to live as they want and deserve-. Overly is a light and nice read.

The main characters in the book are very ambiguous to me. I experienced the whole spectrum of emotions, from cringing at some scenes to feeling compassion. I watched the movie first, and it left a strong impression on me. Unfortunately, the book had the opposite effect. 

Mr. Kitting is not a hero but a narcissistic, self-admiring guy seeking attention from young, susceptible teenagers through his eccentric behavior. I believe he chose the wrong place and time, leading to many unfortunate outcomes as students took his words too literally, and the teacher was too obsessed with their worshipping to give it up.

Robin Williams made his character in the movie much more inspiring, charismatic, deep, and appealing compared to what I just read. It's the first time I can say that the movie is better than the book.

P.s: writing a book based on the film is a bad idea

honestly the only reason i gave this anything less than a 5 is because the proses dont add any other description that we got from the movie

all i know is that this should’ve stayed in the drafts.

since i am aware that this book was released later after the movie, at least i knew how the story goes because if i had read this before the movie, i would be simply bored to death. i felt like there is something missing in the narration and there is also no in-depth description of the characters’ personalities that sometimes it felt like there are no connection between them. 

as much as i detest drawing comparisons between the book and the film, this falls short on the tone, the feel, and the magic from the movie. if you are still curious on what this is all about, i simply recommend to just watch the movie instead and skip the book (or watch the movie first then read the book if you still insist).

okay I LOVED THIS BOOK i loved the secret society, the banter, the friendship EVERYTHING FLOWED GORGEOUSLY and the poetry was just so beautiful.  but there are some things that I hated reading like the SA of one character and then they end up together?? kinda disturbing. The bit about cultural appropriation was also weird to read about in the current state of wokeness just reading that made feel iffy. Overall, such a good fast paced read (that took me longer than i would like to admit).
