Stephen Blackmoore is a deft writer with a flair for twisty-turny, noir narrative. I'll admit that noir isn't my usual jam, but after following Stephen on Twitter and enjoying his sense of humor, I decided to give the series a try. A few chapters in, I was already recommending this book to all my friends. The protagonist is a total anti-hero with a badass, dangerous magical skill set and a moral compass that, more often than not, points in the direction of "IDGAF," leading to violent, sometimes hilarious, and almost always unexpected results.
