I'm not this book even deserves the whole three stars, if it wasn't for a few small points I would give it one. I have never before thrown a book out of just utter anger and disappointment... This book was the first. I can't even put into words how disappointed I was with the ending. Not just because of what happened but because it was so thrown together! Yes I get why sookie did what she did, but you have got to be kicking me with that ending. I felt like the author just gave up on her characters and their story lines and threw in whatever she came up with that day in this book. Not to mention if you haven't read all the inbetween stories get ready to be confused. If I didn't want to know how this series ending, due to the soul fact I have read all the books and can't stomach never finishing a series, I wouldn't even bother reading the next book, because honestly I'm not sure what kind of ending could come from all this.

Harris's writing has always been pretty bad, but I forgive her language weaknesses because the stories are fun summer reads with creative situations and strong characters. However, it's difficult to look past the writing in a book this weak. Major characters disappear or act strangely. Plot points are rushed through like they were plopped on the page directly from a rough outline. Unimportant details are emphasized for no good reason. It all adds up to a whole bunch of "meh." This installment of the Sookie Stackhouse novels feels more like an extended denouement of the previous book than its own work. It seems like it was written to give little episode chunks to the TV show, except True Blood really has little in common with the books plot-wise. I'm reading the last book because I want to know how things turn out for Sookie, not because this one compelled me to continue reading.

Im truly so stressed about what's going to happen in book 13

So much better then the last book

** spoiler alert ** I really enjoyed this book. Looking forward to the next and last book in the series. I like that Sookie didn't (or didn't get a chance to) use the cluviel dor for Eric. Everything is up in the air with Eric and Freyda but Sam has always been a good friend to Sookie. Very interested to read the next book and to see if anyone dies (like it says so in the title).

I was reluctant to pick up the latest Sookie Stackhouse novel because I have been so disappointed in the series - but I do love Charlaine Harris's characters and decided to check it out. I did like this one better than the last few. Sookie seems to be moving toward a direction I have been hoping she would follow and that decision seems clear at the end of the book. I miss the action and suspense of the first four or five books in this series. This book really follows Sookie around as she does very ordinary stuff (ordinary for her) and as she still finds herself surrounded by supes and all of their drama. I think even Charlaine Harris is tired of it because it's kind of boring. Eric, one of my favorite characters, is so two-dimensional and - excuse the pun - lifeless in this one. I have been a Sookie/Eric shipper for a long time, but now, eh. This is supposed to be the penultimate book in the series and I do like how Harris has set the stage for her potential finale. That made the read worth it.

I am so close to being done with the core 13 books of the initial series! I have enjoyed all the different characters as well as the different types of creatures we have been introduced too. Looking forward to finishing the last book here in the coming days.

ahhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhh!!!!! qué final!!!!

I liked this latest installment of the Sookie Stackhouse books better than some of the previous books. It had quite a bit of surprise in it and there were several Sam-Moments that I loved. But this just means that in my opinion this book is a good average and not much more. The Sookie Stackhouse books weren’t among my favorites to begin with. They are always a short read for entertainment in-between more serious or longer books and once I started a series I’ll usually finish it unless it is really bad. Still I can’t deny that I’ll actually be glad when the series is finished with the next book.

The ending of this book breaks my heart. Things I adore about this series that come directly from this book: *Small details such as Sookie grabbing a napkin to open her too-hot car door. *Her fantasies on giving all of her friends and family happy endings.

Meh Eric. ;___;

2.5 yeah, it was okay... from a vampire to a fae series *shrugs*

Easy to read, just like all other books of the series. What annoys me about this series is that you usually have to go through half the book before the action really starts. A minus compared to the TV show is that we only see the events from Sookie's eyes, and her storytelling is sometimes boring - who really wants to hear about her meals, showers and other mundane activities? The book opens up the road for Sookie and Sam to finally hook up, which at this point makes the most sense but that doesn't mean I like it. I also thinks Mrs Harris has been struggling to make this end-game happen and some of the events seem forced because of this. I really enjoyed the first 5 or so books, but at this point I just read because I don't like to leave things unfinished. The good thing is that it just takes a few hours to go through it, so I don't feel I'm wasting too much time.

Book 12 in the Sookie Stackhouse series and they only get better. At first, the series starts out with more humor, but as the series has evolved, a little less humor and more plot. Normally I don't recommend someone start at the first of the series and play catch up, but with this series it is necessary. Harris has created a complex cast of characters and like the South, you must take it slow and easy and savor. Once again Sookie is involved in a murder and must try and solve who-done-it. And her love life with Eric is in peril. Definitely worth reading....only with you have read up to book 11. If not, get busy reading!

At this point, the main reason I read this book was because it's the second to last in the series and why stop now when I'm so close? Thankfully, this series knows when to be done, unlike the Anita Blake books... That being said, it was an enjoyable, light read and I think I like where it's leading me. Now it's on to the last book!
