What was this? I was expecting something cerebral, but this was incoherent. Ostensibly, it was about superheroes who never actually do anything super, but instead sit on their butts for 100+ pages and drone on and on with preachy, obvious author-insert rants about capitalism and protest movements. Even though I am sympathetic to many of the statements made, my eyes were glazing over from sheer boredom. I only persisted because I requested our library purchase this book and felt some duty to see it through. It helped that the book was mercifully brief (little more than a novella at 163 pages). The ending tries to tie things together with some kind of meta-fictional twist, but I had lost all patience by that time and nearly chucked it across the room. It's clear the author has talent, but this experiment in style over substance did not work for me at all. Would not recommend for anyone but pseudo-intellectuals.
