I was all for this book until it got a little weird. The fish is unhappy and rather than trying to cheer him up, all the other sea creatures rag on him. Suddenly a kiss turns his frown upside down and he's running around kissing everyone. I understand it's just a story but I feel like this is totally pushing against all of the safe consent I try to instill in my kids at story time.

Got this for Jodi's baby to be and I had to read it, didn't I? This fish has a pout-pout expression so naturally his disposition has to match. But then a beautiful fish kisses him and he realizes his life can be whatever he wants. I love the title. It goes on and on in my head. Pout-Pout Fish Pout-Pout Fish - and so on.
