The House Witch
Reviews

I really loved the first third of this book. However, I do think it would've benefitted from more clear cut writing. I did begin to get bored with it during the second half, but alas. That said, I enjoyed Fin as a central character.

The coziest book you will read. A good comfort read with a little romance and mischief to keep things interesting

Very little plot line outside of the adventures of a witch who doesn’t want people to know he’s a witch and is a cook in a castle with a crush on a widowed Lady. If this had not been a bookclub book, I probably would have marked it DNF. It felt like it dragged on forever, but it was still cute.

I enjoyed how the story was told, especially all the detail added in which helped the scene really play in my head. I had minor issues in regard to the book. The love interest definitely came as a shock since he didn't seem like he wanted to be close with anyone. But as we progress in the book, you see a little more character development as he slowly shows he's not cold hearted. I wished there had been more details or interactions to show why they felt that way rather than it be just small moments. The romance part was dragged out details could have been added to show why they fell for each other. I look forward to reading the second book to see if we get to know more of it. There were a few chapters that didn't sit right with me like inappropriate names, and I was a little saddened by the mage/witch issue and why it was one.
