Servants of the Storm is a very good thriller. I started to read it without knowing what I would encounter and was instantly surprised. The pace set by the author is amazing, thrilling.

The situation presented is not the typical plot of young-adult books: hurricane Josephine hits Savannah, leaving death and destruction. Two girls, Dovey and Carly, are home alone when it starts to collapse because of the storm. Carly dies and her best friend, Dovey, has been in a medicated ever since. But near the one-year memorial, Dovey decides she is tired of being numb, that she will quit taking the pills.

That's when a whole new world is unveiled to her. A world full of demons feeding of human emotions, demons that will eat your pinkie distal phalange so they can own your soul when you die. 

I have to say that this alternate reality was built incredible and it was very original. I liked the explanations of how the differents tipes of demons were born (highers, lessers, cambions, incubus, succubus) because they were not the usuals. The author talks about sex without stigmatizing the matter (as I've seen in almost every young-adult book)

I love that the story was always ambiguous: the things Dovey sees could be real or a hallucination, because she is no longer taking her pills.

What I didn't like was that there was a love triangle. Authors, stop. We're tired of love triangles! And I hated one of the guys (yes, Baker) so I wish I could erase him from the book.

But the end changed everything. Those last lines were amazing... definitely not something I was expecting.

Highly recommended to paranormal fans!

Couldn't put it down! This tale has excellent world-building and is a great cosy, creepy read in the fall and winter.
