to beg and ask nothing I thought pleading

i'm not going to lie.. reading this while i spend myself thinking [& hoping, wanting to believe...] of the revolutionary potential of (specifically) Islam was in hindsight a process of dialectical thinking. so much of the misogyny through the text & hadith, yes refracted through the lens of whoever in power has translated & disseminated there, was still passed down as unshakable & unquestionable... 

i am fortunate that my own experience growing up as a girl & as a muslim was not of shame, of 

 in regards to being able to menstruate (because i am blessed to not know 

 as much as the others) then afterwards the shame when that function to 

be working; never as a lesser being compared to men. it pains me to know that this really is the kind of mindset, the dominant ideology successfully drilled by the religious authority figures – that there exists a hierarchy, rigid delineation. through this kind of teaching, how can we even begin to have the courage to question the structures & systems of our world which is 

 to be unjust? no room for questioning; only for a woman to 

 – but to whom, exactly? to God or one's interpretation of God?
