This short book packed a powerful punch. Kern managed to highlight both the heights and the depths of human response to disaster through a focus on a single, average, marginalized individual. Noah's navigation of his queer and Jewish identities in the midst of a climate disaster was just so moving. I'm going to be thinking about this story for a while.
