Depth of Field
Reviews

When I want to read a romance novel to break up the literary stuff, there are few authors I can pick up without worries - but Riley Hart is as reliable as they come. Depth of Field contains complex characters with big hearts, who are seemingly magnetised for each other. The character development is solid, and as always the dialogue is believable. I get nervous when a book like this gets too into the dirty talk zone because it can very easily stray towards cringe-fest for me - but in the context of these characters, I believed it. And it was... steamy! My only criticism would be that I felt we lost a little of Van's character towards the end - his edges and uniqueness fell away a little in his love bubble with Shane. But I can forgive that, because it isn't out of the realms of possibility that a person in love softens. I just wanted a few more pages with him to get a more fleshed out sense of how he'd reconciled his life. If you like other Riley Hart hooks, you'll certainly like this. And if you want a book with well developed characters, steamy scenes, a little drama, and a satisfying close - definitely pick it up.
