It seems to me that the universe holds far too many secrets to trade in absolutes, and anyone who tries runs the risk of being found out a fool. I am many things, but I like to think that a fool is not one of them

They started walking. When Valkyrie got too tired, Skuldugery carried her and she slept with her head against his chest.

Omg this is literally the equivalent of a boss battle

He stopped talking. Valkyrie glanced at Skulduggery, then at Ravel, noticed how pale he'd become. Then she saw what they were looking at. Three men, walking up the street towards them.

I got scared for a hot second near the end…

Valkerie. Darquesse. Stephanie. The world ain't big enough for the three of them. The end will come...The War of the Sanctuaries has been won, but it was not without its casualties. Following the loss of Valkyrie Cain, Skulduggery Pleasant must use any and all means to track down and stop Darquesse before she turns the world into a charred, lifeless cinder. And so he draws together a team of soldiers, monster hunters, killers, criminals... and Valkyrie's own murderous reflection. The war may be over, but the final battle is about to begin. And not everyone gets out of here alive.

My daughter and I have read the entire Skulduggery Pleasant series together. It's something we share, which nobody else in the family likes.

Dying of the Light is the final book in the series, a satisfying tying up of many plot lines.

If you haven't read the series, please don't start here.

If you have... then know that Dying offers nearly every character you've seen before, mostly engaged in brutal combat. This novel is probably more fighting-filled then any other. You'll also get more banter between Skulduggery and Valkyrie, nice scenes with our heroine's family, and the fun idea of China Sorrows as Grand Mage.

You will also see a lot of deaths, including for some fine characters. And the finale, well, is cosmic and sweet.

The FINAL shocking, heart-wrenching book in the jaw-droppingly stupendous Skulduggery Pleasant series. Valkerie. Darquesse. Stephanie. The world ain't big enough for the three of them.
