Very easy to follow, and it was pretty good. My only complaint is the VA's; I didn't like them tbh. Felt like Jafar's was trying too much and Jasmine's sounded... like a white woman. But overall, a good book.

A smutty Disney retelling/reimagining on Aladdin?? YUM, YES PLEASE!

How did I not read these books sooner? This book was fabulous and is one of the steamiest Disney retellings/reimagining's I’ve read to date. And I’m sure the rest of this series will be on the same level of this book. This is a very dark, kinky and questionable book, but a perfect read for me. I don't want to say too much since I don't want to spoil it for anyone, but this book was incredibly easy to get carried away in. If life didn't get in the way of reading, I would have read this in an hour. This book is about Jasmine and the ever brooding Jafar. I was really surprised how much I liked this book. As a Disney lover, I’ve always hated Jafar, but this Jafar? Oooo I love him. I love the back and forth between them and no matter how much Jasmine tries to deny it, which she does fiercely, they are meant for one another. If you have a lot of triggers, I wouldn't suggest reading this book because it has a lot. So just be cautious. Other than that this book was great and I can't wait to read book two!

I gave this three stars, but honestly that feels really generous - it gets three stars, because it hit the spot for why I downloaded it: quick smut fix.

But truthfully, this story wasn’t long enough to really be anything special. It was not very fleshed out at all. I needed more world building and character development. I didn’t get enough of anything to really care about the characters at all.

It was my first Aladdin retelling and I will admit that it was fun to see Aladdin be portrayed as the bad guy.

I didn’t love this as much as Neon Gods but it was still good don’t get me wrong. Although I’m about to forever tarnish my childhood reading these books and this series in particular.

Lover of Romance 

This is quite different from anything I have read from this author, it is so DIFFERENT from anything I expected her to write. Its erotic, its very dark and edgy and has some third party sexual play moments. So its definitely not for the faint of heart and to be honest its NOT going to appeal to everyone. So make sure you read the blurb and go into the story with an open mind. The story is a take on a aladdin retelling of a sort. But this time Ali (Aladdid) is the villain, and Jafar is the hero with our lovely Jasmine as the heroine. We also have some other players like Hades and Hook so I am excited for their stories. This definitely is HOT, one of the most HOT books I have ever read....so make sure you have your boyfriend/girlfriend/spouse ready and able because WHEW ....the writing works you in such delicious of ways. But to be honest I really didn't like the ending. I am all for a woman taking charge of her life but I feel like it was like lets emasculate the hero at the same time and portray him weak and I just wasn't for that element. But I did enjoy the story and am eager to see where Katee Robert's takes this series into these unique fairy tale retellings.

Were you more team villains growing up? Did you ever wonder what would happen if the villain got the princess instead of the charming prince? Well then this is the series for you.

Desperate Measures is based loosely around Aladdin but in this version, he's the real villain. But that doesn't mean Jaffar is without his faults and I certainly wouldn't call him prince charming however 20 pages in and I was soft for him already. Jafar is clearly soft for Jasmin.

There was spice basically from the beginning though sometimes we do cross some consensual non-consent (there is a warning at the beginning for this) and I really loved their little safe word and how it wasn't just used when they scened. What surprised me most of all was despite the amount of spicy content in this book the plot was certainly not lacking. I loved the way it was set up with territories and how The Underworld is a mutual territory, the centre of them all in a sense where we get to see other familiar faces come out to play...literally. Despite it being based on a fairytale its got a dark twist that worked perfectly. 

I actually rated this as 4 but changed it to a 3 after reading a few more in the series because although it was good it wasn't great and there were others I liked better.

I'm rather speechless. So out of my comfort zone, yet I kept craving this story. I got so addicted, to the point that it felt like I was in a desert and this story was an oasis. It's that addicting and thrilling. My heart rate spiked up from the beginning of the book, spiked up even higher in certain areas that left me absolutely breathless.

I was not expecting the ending we got but I definitely preferred it a million times. I love how fierce, strong, badass is Jasmine. She's such a ball of fire! I was loving the fight and fire she put forth for Jafar.

I didn't know what to make of Jafar, at first. But ugh, he changed me, converted me. I couldn't stop thinking about him! He appears with this strong, calculated, nothing-can-hurt-me, I-don't-care attitude, but the way he treats Jasmine says otherwise. If you really pay attention, he always gives Jasmine an out, always makes sure she knows she can back out, always takes care of her. And at the end, how he was just ready to be by her side, had me rooting hard for him and Jasmine. It solidified my thoughts about him being a great guy.

Let's talk about the elephant in the room. I've read erotica before, but NEVER THIS! I was in shock with everything, but not so much what was happening, since I have friends who like the type of activities in this book so I know enough about it to not be scarred or disgusted. But I was more shocked of just how much I was actually enjoying it. I usually shy away from books with this type of stuff, but not here. Katee Robert did it in such a way that it had my attention completely. It even made me question myself! I don't know if that's good or bad

           Actual rating: 2.5 stars Please note there is a lot if sexual content in this one.. TW: non consensual which ends up moving into a consensual basis. 

I read this in one sitting, it’s fair to say this book is addictive. The story follows Jasmine and Jafar… Jasmine being the daughter of a wealthy man is sold off to Jafar. This ends up being a whirlwind of sexual experiences for Jasmine since she is new to these types of scenarios. I will say I was shocked how fast the MC was ok with the whole deal. She went from 0-100 in a heartbeat, which really struck me 😳…with her being a virgin and all 😅

One thing I could’ve done without was the daddy kink, I’m not a fan. I would’ve loved to see more character development from Jasmine, Jafar was pretty good with his development. I’m hopeful that in future books there is more going on than just sex lol.

1.5. The ratio of smut to plot is wayyyy off in this one - like, 90/10. I can't believe people are reading these books and then going on TikTok and recommending them with a straight, unashamed face. Part of me doesn't even want to mark this as read on Goodreads, I feel like a flustered mom reading 50 Shades of Gray for the first time. I need to get off spicy BookTok because this is not for me.

This is the second Katee Robert book I’ve read and I still can’t stop picturing Disney characters. Anyway, the plot isn’t that great but the spice is 🤌🏽
