Do You Want to Start a Scandal
Reviews

Okay. I admit, a forced engagement has started to feel a little wearying, but the manner in which Tessa Dare approaches this one is lively, whimsical, and entirely fun. Mysteries! Invisible ink! Poison! Fire! Intrigue! Hilarious quips of dialogue! All in all, probably my favorite Spindle Cove since dear Charlotte's sister, Minerva, ran off in Book 2.

*3.5

ABSOLUTELY ADORABLE!! I loved the mystery and spy element to it! So much fun!! Tessa Dare can truly do no wrong!

I'm going to have a hard time picking a favorite Tessa Dare book, aren't I? This book was laugh out loud hilarious, with romance that tugs at the heartstrings; basically, it is everything I needed in a romcom. The premise of the story is so outrageously funny and it's exactly what I love about historical romance. A man and a woman are found alone together in a library! Scandal! ENGAGEMENT! The dramatics of it all are *chef's kiss*, and the mystery of it all (who was actually hooking up in the library that night??) added another fun layer to it.

4.5 stars How did I not realise Tessa Date's book series are linked sooner? What a joy to stumble across a familiar face from Castles Ever After! I obviously adore everything which Dare writes. It's always so well written with genuinely enjoyable characters with personality. I adored how Charlotte and Granville appeared to be such opposites who totally worked together. I was charmed by them. And the book had me sighing laughing out loud and just really enjoying myself. I love when a book manages to do that for me.

This is great. 1. Because they mention that female masturbation exists. 2. Gay people exist. 3. The term “scullery maid” is used a couple times and it makes me giggle so much because of Dreamwork’s Trolls 😂

Such a good book. Great premise and the characters were very likable.

I don't have too much to say about this - it's kinda like a good rom-com. There's a formula, but it's done well and it's nice to spend a short while in this world. Definitely interested in more of Tessa Dare

yikes.

3.5 stars.

Starting with an excellent take on what some (including myself) to be the best first sentence in a novel (see The Gunslinger), this is a fun, smart, sexy romance that is a bit reminiscent of the movie Clue. Determined to find out who was tupping in the drawing room is Lady Charlotte's mission, because everyone else thinks it was her and Lord Piers, and now they are set to be married. Lord Piers carries his own intrigue, including his own spy mission as part of His Majesty's secret service. He's fine with the impeding marriage as Lady Charlotte is beautiful and smart, but he has not promised her any love, which she is definitely not fine with. Loads of fun seeing how these two get their HEA. Listened to this on audiobook as a second read and I was delighted by the narrator and the story yet again. Tessa Dare has a wonderfully sweet, comedic, and lively way of telling romance stories that is matched by no other. Her dialogue is wicked smart and comes even more alive when heard out loud. #ButDoTheyBang 2021 read Piers is kind of a poop? Still a super fun read, I just wasn't quite as charmed with Piers as I was initially - but give everything to Charlotte thank you please.

Cute, sweet, funny, a bit ridiculous. Just how I like my historical romances.
