Había leído Wikinomics de Don Tapscott hace varios años y me encantó. Esta vez no pude escapar del hype que genera blockchain y quería entender bien qué había tras esta tecnología. Siempre rescato lo simple que escribe Tapscott, sus libros te enganchan desde el comienzo y los ejemplos son extremadamente futuristas y entretenidos.
Me encantó el libro, es claro, conciso y tiene esa maravillosa capacidad de proyectar tu imaginación en las posibilidades que blockchain traerá a futuro. Recomendado.

A pretty decent primer on blockchain technology but I have to say that after having read it I still don't think I could explain it. I found my way to this on Audible after spending a month on Steemit.com, a social media platform that pays crypto in Steem to its users as rewards for content curated by the platform's users. I'm keen to invite others to the paradigm, but without being able to explain it, it's a real problem. I thought this book would give me the info I needed, but it fell short. 

Don't get me wrong - I did learn a lot from reading this, but it skirted over the surface of the technology by giving repeated examples of how useful the technology could be without really going into how it works. Of course explaining how it works could actually have made it rather turgid and dense as I'm not sure whether that can be explained to the layman very comprehensibly.

I ordered and plowed through this book in the midst of writing my master's thesis on putting Euros on the blockchain and the start of the epic crypto bull run of 2017. This book exactly manifests the optimism of the crypto year of 2017 when blockchain went mainstream. The book summarizes all places where "Blockchain will eat the world":
* Reinventing financial services
* Rearchitecting the company
* New business models - distributed p2p
* The ledger of things for an internet of things
* Economic inclusion and entrepreneurship
* Rebuilding governments and democracy
* Music and arts on the ledgers
As well as the design principles and showstoppers.

Overall the book feels optimistic, pie in the sky, and everything-will-be-awesome. Ironically in 3 years since its release, we are no closer to a Blockchain utopia. The forces of the world are massively stubborn against a decentralized, peer-2-peer, idealistic crypto world. With crypto dying down in popularity, no one cares anymore. I haven't seen anyone really solve a problem with blockchain minus trading. Maybe someday, for now, it's a good fun read of Web 3.0.
