The Legend is the third installment in the "Sons of Texas" series and this is Wyatt's book. This has been such an action packed series that has thrilled me from head to toe and I have really been neglecting this series for sure. It was a blast being able to get back to this world here, and the way that this author was able to pull me in so quickly into this story. There is something so wonderful about this series and it had such strong thriller vibes, which is perfect with the recent release of the Jack Ryan season. This series also has some strong political intrigue thriller feels to the story. I loved seeing this family get together and reconnect and fighting against their enemy that is going to be hard to take down, but are fighting to do what is right to save the world.

Callie Reed has her own expertise and knows how to defend herself and can handle psycological stress thanks to the training that Wyatt's father gave her over the years. Callie and Wyatt fell in love in high school, but when he lost his mother and left for the special forces, he left everything behind and broke Callie's heart. But Callie has never hated Wyatt for the hurt he caused her, she always knew that he had demons that she could never fix for him. When Wyatt returns home, when his father is kidnapped and his uncle and aunt murdered, he and Callie are forced together in a situation of survival and hiding out from their enemies. There was so much to love about this story. Donna Grant really stepped up her game with this one and I absolutely was on the edge in reading this book. There is something so fascinating in the way that this author is able to capture her readers and this series might be one of my favorite books from her. I just can't put them down and it pulls me in so quickly. I absolutely was all in for Wyatt and Callie. Seeing these two people who love each other so deeply but are such fools in love, well I am all for that setup. I just adore a well done second chance romance and this one really takes the cake. This is my favorite book of the series so far. There was something so raw and aching about their love story and I just wanted these two to find a way to fight to be together. They deserve it so so much. Both have such longing and damaged hearts. They are both capable in their own ways and adored what a power couple they end up being in this one. The drive they both have together in fighting for the ones they love and their country is palpable within each page.

Nothing much to be honest. It was just about perfect of a suspense romance!

This narrator is one of my favorites for a reason and I love how she handled the dialogue for both male and female characters. She also has such a likeable personality that comes through in the narration.

First Impressions

What I Loved

Simmering cup of tea---soft warm touches and light intimacy
Warmin' by the fire- a medium level of sexual tension, a balance of sexual and emotional intimacy, lighter on the details in the sexual moments.
Steamin' up the room -the sexual content is more explicit in the language and tone, heavier amount of sexual scenes --There aren't many sex scenes but they are higher in steam level.

The Legend is a romantic suspense novel. It is part of the Sons of Texas series, and follows up after the events of the previous 2 novels. Therefore, to get the most out of this story, it should be read in order.

Wyatt Loughman and Callie Reed have a long and complicated relationship. Though Wyatt had feelings for Callie, he kept them hidden and left her with his family after the death of his mother. He later comes back when Callie and his family are in danger. Not only do they have to keep their themselves alive from those chasing after them, they have to prevent sinister plots from unfolding.

I highly recommend this book for readers who love romantic suspense novels. It is fast past paced and the plot of the story keeps you gripped. It is more focused on the action rather than the romance. There were surprises here and there which kept me engaged. It is well written and engaging with various points of view from different characters. Looking forward to reading the next book entitled The Defender.

Nicola Sarah Brooks

This is the 3rd book in this series. I had not read any of the other books in the series, and whilst I did get a bit lost with previous storylines, I still found it easy enough to slip into the world and highly enjoyed it!

Wyatt has retired from the Armed Services and returned to the ranch he vowed never to return to. 
 But his family is under attack and it's best to concoct a plan of attack with his brothers. His father is missing after being abducted but their strained relationship meant that they hadn't been close for some time.

He never forgot Callie though. Their brief teenage relationship has been his anchor for years. He left her behind in the safety of his family from the nest of vipers that was her family.

Callie may look fragile but this girl has an inner core of steel. You'd have to to survive her family of crooks. They left her for dead when she was a teenager and she was rescued by Wyatt. But unbeknown to her he has been keeping them at a distance for years. But they are now ramping up efforts to get her back into the family and are being non too subtle about it either! 

Although they have a history together I loved the slow build to passion in this story. It doesn't overtake the suspense and danger storyline but slots nicely into the timeframe. With surprising allies, Russians good and bad, bio weapons and a family that makes your stomach turn/ This is a great mix of action, adventure and romance. I loved the lead in for what I hope is the next book, after all the brothers are now sorted so time to get Dad on track to happiness!!

Chantale

The Legend is book three in the Sons of Texas by Donna Grant and if you have been reading my blog for a while you probably noticed that I have loved the previous two books. Heck, I have loved everything I have read by Donna Grant.

You do get the previous characters from the previous books but this one is about Callie and Wyatt. This story continues from the previous books so you do have to read the first two. I promise you, you will not be disappointed. 

I love that this book (all the other two) are action-packed romantic suspense that kept me reading and I found I just couldn't put down because I just loved the story so much that I ended up losing track of time. 

I can't wait for the next book. You bet I will get my hands on a ARC of the next book as soon as I can and buy the finished copy as soon as it is out. 

I give this 5 out of 5.
