spoilers ahead! i really enjoyed the first 25-30% of this book but it went downhill after that. the plot is pretty predictable so from the beginning you can tell that ‘jake’ is actually luca. at first i thought it was a cute story but then it got really weird? not telling someone your name is certainly a choice but it was very uncomfortable to read about ‘jake’ having sex with naomi while she didn’t know who he really was. also, anne, naomi’s friend was insufferable and pushy at times so i did not enjoy the book as much whenever she was around. while the story had cute parts and i enjoyed the reading experience it definitely became repetitive at times but the story was interesting enough to continue.

okay this one was tough for me. While I really enjoyed the story, so much of it is a “suspend your belief in reality” for a moment in a way that didn’t make me like the story. Not only that, but some of the decisions these characters make are not ones I can just laugh at. Some of them I think are just deal breakers. I’m beginning to think that the letter exchanging trope is always going to be a set up for a faux love triangle with a heaping side of miscommunication. I don’t love that.

Cute, quick read. Sometimes I found the characters to be relatively annoying and the big reveal wasn't very hard to guess. Still cute though.

"hate mail" is a pen pals-but-also-enemies-to-lovers (that's a mouthful!) romance that was absolutely delightful, hilarious and had me kicking my feet and giggling the whole time. i had a fantastic time reading this and i think it look me less than a day to finish the book, that's how much fun i was having! i loved naomi's inner monologue, the flashbacks through her letters with luca, the shenanigans she got up to with anne, and most of all, the romance!! i don't want to give everything away but i would absolutely recommend this book to anyone who loves a fun romance with a twist! thank you to netgalley and one more chapter for the arc. "hate mail" comes out march 14th!
