sei bem sobre o primeiro livro do autor deixar muito a desejar mas no caso desse aqui graças a sinopse acabei criando mais expectativa do que devia :| a premissa é muito boa, adorei a sidney, o mistério é interessante e gosto muito dessa coisa jornalística/investigativa, tudo isso me prendeu. massss, não acho que autor conseguiu sustentar o suspense por tempo suficiente. nos foi apresentado personagens que ele queria que criassemos suspeitas mas COMO se ao mesmo tempo tiveram um aprofundamento fraquíssimo e no caso do daniel quase inexistente? ja o verdadeiro culpado foi TAO fácil de descobrir e nem precisou ir muito longe, todos os trejeitos e as falas dele eram suspeitas ou no mínimo esquisitas. tem muito furo, muita coisa inverossímil mas o final foi o que me broxou definitivamente kkkkkk que coisa BESTA conveniente e clichezona. fraquinho fraquinho... enfim, talvez eu encare mais alguma coisa desse autor depois pra ver se algo melhorou. mas esse aqui é bem esquecível viu

If you’re a fan of thrillers and true crime, you’ll love this book! I was hooked all the way through and didn’t want to put it down. I was second guessing my ideas all the way through the book. I desperately wish there was a sequel to this!

I was hesitant about this at the beginning. Then got sucked into it, and by the end I was a little disappointed by the way they finished it. So I can't give this as good a star rating more then this.

A satisfying murder mystery type of story with a true-crime documentary feeling to it (which now I feel I have to watch more of).

The story actually follows the creation of a documentary, as Sidney Ryan, a filmmaker made famous for her previous documentaries which helped prove the innocence of previously convicted criminals. Because of that, she is approached by Grace Sebold, who was accused of killing her boyfriend ten years previously and has been in jail in St.Lucia ever since. Upon reviewing evidence of the case, Sidney becomes convinced that Grace is innocent and works to prove that. But just when her documentary convinces the world of Grace's innocence, some new information comes to Sidney who just might upend everything she has worked towards with the documentary.

This was a thriller full of twists and turns, that kept me guessing at every turn. You know those mysteries where at any given page you think anyone might be the killer. I wasn't sure of anything up until the very end, and I discovered it right as Sidney did. 

The ending is bittersweet though (view spoiler)[ we know the truth and we know that Gus knows the truth, but still, Sidney is dead, an innocent woman is in jail for her murder and the guilty parties are nowhere to be found.  (hide spoiler)] It is believable, and yet frustrating, however it feels cyclic with the beginning of the novel, and I can always appreciate a book that accomplishes that.

I recommend it for thriller and true-crime fans, or someone who might be just getting into the genre, as the writing is very easy to get into and it is a very fast-paced read.
