This was just meh for me. I picked it up because I really enjoyed The Good Girl however this boom seems to just continue to drag on unnecessarily. Kubrick uses split narrative through the eyes of Alec and Quinn, two completely unrelated characters who never meet but whose lives are forever altered by the antagonists actions. I’ll admit I had somewhat figured out the “twist” about halfway through the book so wasn’t too surprised when it was revealed. It was pretty obvious. It was an interesting story and overall well-written but I never really cared for any of the characters, except for Esther who is gone 90% of the book, and didn’t know why I should. The book also just really dragged on for me without knowing where it was going, and not necessarily in a good way.

I love psychological suspense so this was right up my alley. I found it to be very compelling and would recommend it highly. I look forward to reading the other books by this author.

Sucked me in and was a quick read. Not bad but not great for reasons I am not sure I can articulate.
Maybe just the character depth wasn't really there for me?
Anyway, it was worth the read and I would recommend.

Solid beach type book. Easy to follow, fast reading and while some parts were predictable, the end had some surprises. Didn’t creep me out as much as some of these types of books do (IE Gone Girl & Girl On a Train) which is a plus for me.

I don't know what is it with this book. I've read great reviews so I expected more. 
I didn't love it but I did't hate it either. 

The characters are okay, nothing special. The plot is good, but the writing is dragging for most of the book. It failed to keep me interested. However I did like how everything came together in the end. It's a clever ending. 

All in all, Don't You Cry is an okay book for me.

The beginning of this book is bland, so bland I put it down and nearly didn't pick it back up.



I'm glad that I did continue reading it as the story line soon picks up.

We start off hearing from Quinn and Alex, these characters both live on the edge of Lake Michigan and they both have their own issues they are dealing with. Alex is stuck at home with his drunk father, stalking a girl he has just met. Quinn just complains about everything. She irritated me. 

Although the characters annoyed me with their incessant whinging, once I got into the story I couldn't put the book down. The two story lines of the characters are held together by one link, the girl with the ombre hair. These come crashing together at the end of the book, in a plot twist I did not see coming.



Although this is a good book with a killer twist, it's not memorable.

What was this book about, again? Because I think it was about a missing roommate, but I got lost in the self loathing of the left behind roommate, taught about the crumbling economy in the parallel plot, and then sprung with a 'twist' that seemed so outlandish I could not suspend disbelief anymore.

Not to mention the fact that it was an utterly boring book to listen to, I would have skimmed half the book had I been reading it. 2 stars only because it wasn't trashy writing.

I picked this book up after reading Good Girl and enjoying it. This book was good but not as fast paced as Good Girl. The author follows the same script for this book as she did in her last book so that got a little boring. Overall I give it a 3.5.
