I'm not quite sure how old Mrs. Pollifax is. I think Ms. Gilman wants to suggest she is much too old to be starting a career in espionage. She is bored and a bit lonely. She wants to contribute something other than a lovely garden to the world. She volunteers and is mistakenly accepted as a CIA agent. Well not really an agent. Just a tourist who happens to pick up or deliver something that is of national importance. Things go awry and suddenly she is in danger. She hardly gets ruffled and she becomes prime material for many more top secret quests. I suspect she will become more and more valuable as the series progresses.

What follows is a delightful, scary and adventurous ride.
I thought this was a recent book, then read it came out a long time ago. Delighted that there are 12 more books in the series.
I love the mix of unlikely stories, Dorothy really painted vivid imagery for all the places (DC, Albania, Mexico).
I read the book in two days, it has short great chapters which make you long to read another chapter. Highly recommend this book!
