Probably the most depressing book I've read all year, though I don't see how a book about a school shooting could be anything but. Still, Coupland keeps it interesting by switching characters and times, showing the aftereffects reverberating through the characters' futures and how some of them never truly recover. Like I said, depressing as hell, but well-written, heartfelt, and (sadly) still timely as ever, as these tragedies continue to occur every year.

This took a while to get into. It gradually grew on me until the third section, which is a really special and fascinating apogee. Worth sticking around for.
