Despite having seen the 1001 Dark Nights novellas all over the place, this is the first one I've actually read. Strange, huh? I think so, too. It's also something that needs to be rectified sooner rather than later because I enjoyed this bite-sized book with its perfect mix of romance and suspense.

Dream of You was a great addition to Jen's Wait for You series. It was also a super quick read. I finished it in a little over an hour. But when we're talking a second chance romance of sorts with characters I found it easy to connect with, there was no holding me back once I got started. The setup for this one was fun, in a way, if you take out the horrific murder Abby witnessed, anyhow. When it comes to tropes, I love my crushes, friends-to-more and second chance romance. With Dream of You, Jen combined these together to make one sexy and swoony (and, you know, suspenseful) novella. 

I really liked both Abby and Colton. It was fun to relate to Abby with her bookish career and I definitely grinned a couple time at the author references that were thrown in. Colton was smoking hot, protective and sweet. Who doesn't love a man in uniform, after all? I loved the chemistry between them and enjoyed watching them admit to their feelings and try something out together. The suspense caused by the murder Abby witnessed and the resulting fallout made for a nice extra in the story. An important side note about this novella – I loved that Jen worked self-esteem and accepting oneself into the story here. I think this is something most people will relate to in one way or another. I know I did! 

While Dream of You is part of the Wait for You series, it could absolutely be read on its own and enjoyed by someone who hadn't read the other books in the series. But, you really should make time to read the other books at some point. Jen's got a great series here. You won't be sorry.
