I wanted more! This book had so much potential and I really liked Frankie, but I think it failed to deliver all that it could.

Whip smart, funny, and amazing. I loved this book & oh, how I LOVED the character of Frankie Landau-Banks with her feminist, smart, class-conscious and thoughtful approach to life at an upper-crust boarding school. A must read for anyone!

At first, the book was a little bit static, I was hoping for something different, not the clichés: student girl, that meets a boy, and falls in love with him, the other student girl, the bad one, friends, love and stuff. But this books surprised me in so many levels... It reminded me of Looking for Alaska, with the pranks and stuff (and also E. Lockhart thanked John Green at the end of the book, which took my full attention and I loved it), and also reminded me of a Brazilian book by Pedro Bandeira, with a gang of students in a school that created a secret group to fight against evil and bad things. THIS BOOK IS AMAZING! Seriously, it took my breath away when [SPOILER ALERT] Frankie decided to make the pranks and help the boys to come back in scene and being remembered. SO AMAZING AND SO BREATHTAKING THAT SWEET JESUS, THANK YOU FRO CREATING SUCH AN AMAZING AUTHOR! THANK YOU FOR AN AMAZING BOOK!

This was second E.Lockhart novel for me and in both of them she puts the genre up side down: in We were liars I didn't think she made her point but in this case it actually works very well: instead of your normal Sarah Dessen high school flick you get a story how girls can be smart and strategize and win at school politics. This means that we don't get a romantic ending but instead we get a girl who believes in herself which is a much better ending in my opinion. I wish there were more books like this when I was growing up, I could definitely relate to Frankie then. Not that I didn't break rules but this would probably inspire me to break even more of them. High school secret societies are the best! This book reminded me a bit about Veronica Mars, especially noir ending.

The Disreputable History of Frankie Landau-Banks,
