The additional matter is comprised mainly in Part Fourth, all of which is entirely new, and whose object is a comparison of other great religions with the Christian to see what verdict they render touching the life beyond the grave. In the original treatise my aim was an exposition of the Hebrew and Christian Scriptures, so as to bring out clearly and rationally the revelation which they give us on this subject, and to show how it comports with right reason and the nature of things.
