Ella has felt different all her life, with her pale, almost translucent skin, wild hair, pointed ears and gangly limbs. Her father has wanted nothing to do with her since her mother's death, and her grandparents hide her away from the world. Then Ella discovers that she really is different. She is a Flitterwig: a human with fairy blood.
