I highly enjoyed this book. Smith wrote a much better biography of Eisenhower than the other biography I read a few years back. In fact, I have yet to be disappointed with any of her works. 
Smith's narrative is smooth, detailed and evenly weighted. She navigates the ups and downs of Eisenhower's life with ease and without getting distracted by related, contemporary events. 
It's too bad that the narrator did not do justice to her words. He wasn't bad. He just had the kind of voice and intonation that nearly put me to sleep a few times.
I cannot say enough about Smith's historiographical skill. She sources all facts included in the narrative and avoids speculation more than any other biography author that I've read recently. 
I highly recommend this book. It is an excellent choice for a thorough and comprehensive look at the life of a world renown general and American President.
