"El mundo amarillo" is a book categorized as self-help. It is a book in which the author drives you to his story (cancer survivor) and explains how to get through different things in order to live a more fulfill an happy life.

The premise of this book was good however it did not reach me. For me it was more like there are worse things in the word that those you are going through, get over it. And this discurse is one of the worse things you can say to someone with depression or depressive thoughts. A person with depression or going through a rough time knows there are worse in the world, you only have to turn on the TV or look around to see worse problems. However, this only make us feel worse, not only I'm feeling down for no reason but I'm being selfish cause someone somewhere have it worse; and not only that but those people have gone through their "shit" with flying colors while you are here complaining for no reason whatsoever. 

I am not saying it is admirable to see this kind of people move past their important life threatening problems and be positive and all. It is fantastic and admirable, they are strong and formidable, but I also thing that somehow on those moments you do not have other option, either you are strong or you die ; while those small things not important enough to kill you carve little holes into your soul and mind little by little, and you do not go into fight mode until it is necessary. In my opinion, that it why people do not seek for mental aid until they are hopeless, cause you do not realize the damage little things are doing until you are truly hurt. 

Another thing to take into consideration is that no one is the same. We are all unique and we have different ways to approach problems, there isn't just one solution to problems in life, you need to find yours.

All in all, I did not like this book very much, I did not find it helpful for me, but there are plenty of people that does. After all it was recommended to me by my therapist.
