There is much about the humans I do not understand, but this thing I know: their leader will not rest until he has washed his pride with my blood.

This book was incredibly slow to get started which wouldn't have been so bad if I had actually cared about Arilyn from the beginning. Unfortunately, there were so many other characters that I cared about more that it made reading her stuff... Difficult to say the least.

Once she actually meets up with other elves it is more interesting and better paced. The ending was as good as it could be given everything that happened, but definitely rang bittersweet. 

I'd read this book again for all the interesting and funny side characters or the intrigue but if slow books make struggle then skip it.
